We're Back in the South Pacific

Welcome back to the QuickStar blog. We arrived after midnight on Friday, April 23rd to the sounds and smells of the South Pacific. Instant de-stress! All of our bags arrived, no hassle with customs, including the added bonus of bringing four bottles of duty free gin (which cost less than one bottle would here in Tahiti).
The weather is fabulous, hot and sunny and the boat is in great shape. We are currently unpacking and getting in the island mode with Bob Marley belting out his tunes...oh now it is Jimmy Buffett.
We are on a serious mission to get all tucked in and ready for our first Gin and Tonic of the season by Happy Hour today. Fabulous how our goals and "to-do" lists align so well with the "changes in attitude and changes in latitude" mentatlity of the South Pacific.
First stop - a two day sail back to the Tuomotus, leaving probably on Monday after getting provisions. Thanks for coming along with us again this season...

QuickStar's journey

Captain Peter Bruckmann and First Mate Diana Young (also often acting as the Admiral) set sail from Vancouver in August 2007 aboard sv Quickstar, a 46-foot Beneteau. Each year we have ventured further across the Pacific, while returning to Silver Star Mountain, in Vernon, B.C., Canada for the ski season (and to reconnect with family and land-based friends). This blog explores the highs, lows and adventures of life at sea and the wonderful countries visited.

Why sharks swim around you!

Two great white sharks, swimming in the ocean, spied a ship in distress.

"Follow me, son," the father shark said to the son shark and they swam to the ship. "First we swim around them a few times with just the tip of our fins showing."

And they did. "Well done, son! Now we swim around them a few times with all of our fins showing." And they did.

"Now we eat everybody." And they did. When they were both gorged, the son asked, "Dad, why didn't we just eat them all at first? Why did we swim around and
around them?"
