Hola from Mexico

We are back in Mazatlan and ready for the fourth chapter of our journey (1st - moving onboard and spending the 2007 summer sailing in B.C. , 2nd - beginning offshore sailing ending up at Mazatlan, Mexico, 3rd - winter at Silver Star and now the 4th - sailing in the Sea of Cortez for the spring/summer/fall 2008. Following our fabulous winter at Silver Star we topped it off with an exciting farewell weekend at SunDance Guest Ranch.

We then spent a whirlwind week in Abbotsford with final appointments with dentists, doctors, accountants, etc., etc. with time to visit with friends and family. The only minor inconvenience was that I had to have a knee operation (torn miniscus) which slowed me down some! Am still hobbling around on crutches, but recovering well here in Mexico.

We are staying at the El Cid Marina and Resort probably for another week. During this time Peter is getting the boat ready and provisioned and I'm working on getting off crutches for the crossing. It is a beautiful resort with two pools, restaurants, two happy hours daily and lots of amenities. We are also looking forward to spending a day here with Jodi (from the office) and her family while they are visiting on their cruise.

When we leave Mazatlan we will sail for approximately 32 hours across to the Baha Pennisula. Hopefully it will be less eventful than the sail over - but that is another story.

Our plans are that we will spend the spring/summer/fall sailing up the Sea of Cortez to the remote anchorages and small fishing villages. We continue to learn Spanish on our computer program, but have a long way to go!!! I will send a post from La Paz once we are settled in to the anchorage there, after stopping enroute at anchorages along the pennisula . We are looking forward to our first guests aboard - Doug from Silver Star and his 8 year old daughter, Shelby who are joining us in early May for a week.

These iguanas are plentiful around the pool/ocean. We've counted over 16 so far (Dee you would love it here just because of these creatures!!!)

Please leave a comment - I look forward to keeping in touch with everyone...and look forward to learning how to really use this blog. Unti La Paz....stay safe and live big.
