Day 3 - July 5
From about the time it got dark last night, we expected the winds to build, but in fact, they dropped right off. We were unable to carry any canvas at all, so we bobbed up and down like a cork in the ocean, with bare poles. It was very uncomfortable and both Peter and I flopped around in the cockpit with uneven swells of about 6 feet, trying to catch a few winks here and there. The morning dawned with wind, so we have been having a nice sail all day. We are going between 5.5 - 7 knots with a little more than 300 miles to go. This trip will take about a day longer than expected at this rate. The waves are starting to build a bit now, making it a bit rockier, but definitely better than last night. We have seen a few dolphins, a turtle and a booby that flew around us for an hour or so. Still feeling a bit queasy, but that is getting better too. Till tomorrow....
